75th Air Cadet Anniversary Torch
On the 26th of August 2016 four cadets returned to the squadron after a usual parade night at 4 am to receive a visit from the 75th anniversary torch that has been travelling around the country. Some cadets chose to dress up for the occasion, demonstrating the late evening by wearing dressing gowns etc. which caused for some photographs. The 75th anniversary torch started its journey in Scotland & Northern Ireland region and has made its way down through the regions until it arrived in South West in which after visiting various wings came to visit our squadron. It was a very tiring evening, but cadets enjoyed the evening and the visit of the torch.

My Experience at 2146
Throughout my year and seven months at 2146 sqn I have gained a number of different skills which will help me with life such as communication skills, respect and punctuality. I like attending 2146 because of the people I get to interact with. I have made many strong friendships. One of the activities that I enjoy is field craft. Field craft is an outdoor activity related to survival within the forces. Ive learnt many outdoor techniques that the armed forces use. I like the idea that cadets lets me progress and eventually I could get promoted if I show the correct skills. This would allow me to take on more responsibility which further helps me in the future.
I have been on one camp so far and I hope to be able to go on many more. I went with three others from 2146. We all became close friends and made more friends from other squadrons with in the wing. On camp I learnt a lot about survival and safety.
I really enjoy my time at 2146 and hope to make new friends and find new skills that will help me in the future.

Wing Muster (RAF Odiham)
On the 14th of May 2016 at RAF Odiham in Hampshire, Bristol & Gloucestershire Wing ATC took cadets to participate in the 3rd Wing Muster of the South West Region. Throughout the day there were activities running for cadets to take part in including visiting stands from RAF Police, RAF Fire Services, RAF Careers and many more. The highlight of the day would have to be the flight in the Chinook in which we went up in chalks numbered 1-12. Cadets from each squadron were split from their regular peer groups into the chalks, this encouraged cadets no matter what ranks and how long they have been in the Corps to engage with each other make new friends from all over the Wing. Overall it was a very enjoyable and busy day with lots of different things to see and do.

Bristol Belter
On the 4th of September 2016 seven cadets ventured out to the Mendip Hills to provide food, drink and support for cyclists that were taking part in a bike race. Cadets were split between two checkpoints with the majority at the main one which was providing water refuelling and food for the cyclists whilst having a quick pit-stop break before continuing with the rest of the race. At a checkpoint further on through the course two to three cadets were stood marshalling to make sure cyclists knew which route to take and that no mistakes were made by cyclists. It is was an enjoyable day helping the cyclists taking part in their strenuous race.

My first 4 weeks of cadets
In my first 4 weeks of air cadets I’ve done things you wouldn’t normally have the chance to do for example: archery, flight simulation, learning the back ground of the air force and the air training corps, by volunteering, radio exercises and going down to the local park to put up basha’s and do map reading. If I stay in air training corps I will have the chance to: go flying and gliding, camps, visit air force bases, shooting, bikefest, visit air RAF bases, go to museums and much more.

MY FIRST CAMP AND NIGHT EX.
I have been at 2146 for a year and a bit and I have learnt and achieved a lot. My best experience, one of them is going on my 1st camp which was at RAF Henlow. The reason I enjoyed this experience was because of the different sports, going to the museums and learning new skills. Another experience I had was doing a night ex down Conham river park as it was dark and we were in teams with radios working as a team.

MY TIME AT 2146
During my time in the Air Training Corps, I have learned countless skills which have helped me to mature and develop as a person. I have thoroughly enjoyed my time here and will continue to learn and thrive until I reach my full potential in the Corps.
I have made many new friendships in the Air Cadets, in and out of 2146 Squadron, as I attended the Henlow Autumn Camp in October 2017. It was an incredible experience, and I am sure I will equally enjoy the other camps I will go on in the near future.
In conclusion, I have loved my last year-and-a-half here at the ATC and look forward to my future here.
